“You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood. What mood is that? Last-minute panic.” ― Bill Watterson

I don't know who Bill Watterson is, but hes right.

Procrastination is the enemy of a lot of young men these days I feel. It's no secret that 16-24 year olds are being bombarded by bullshit from an early age, whether its from school, society or a phone, it seems like they all combine to make men subdued and under motivated.

I have suffered from this for a long time. But like Bill Watterson said, Last-minute panic is a huge motivator.

But why does it have to be this way? The answer seems obvious. When time is running out, you must ACT DECISIVELY.

For most, time isn't running out. So how do we overcome the urge to put things off and procrastinate the day away?

Momentum

Momentum is what has killed the procrastination tendancies inside of me. It seems obvious, but the real trick is to build that momentum. Small wins turn into big wins, and several small wins turn into momentum. If you start going to the gym, it's easy to stop going. "I'm just taking a few days to rest" you'll tell yourself. Days turn to a week. That week turns to two weeks, two weeks turns into 2 months, and before you know it you have skipped the gym for most of the year and are planning your new workout routine for your fresh start.

This is how you waste your life doing NOTHING of value.

So, how to build momentum? It's not easy, especially if you have already formed the bad habits of wasting time and procrastination.

So here's how I kill procrastination and build momentum. By the way, none of this is profound or new, its just what works for me.

  1. Re-forge your mind. Tell yourself that you ARE going to change, and believe it. What you SAY will manifest into reality if you BELIEVE IT. Say it 10 times every morning while looking yourself in the eye.

  2. Write down your DREAM LIFE. What do you want? When do you want it? How much money do you want to earn? Do you want a Ferrari? Write that shit down.

  3. Write down a list of goals and accomplishments that you must achieve this YEAR to put you on track towards your Dream Life.
Include in this list some habits you want to have formed, some income goals, some skill goals and some life goals.

  4. Write down a list of goals and accomplishments that you must achieve this MONTH to put you on track towards what you wrote for the year [step 3]

  5. Write down a list of goals and accomplishments that you must achieve TODAY to put you on track towards what you wrote for the MONTH [step 4]

  6. Write your daily list every morning, and then EXECUTE that daily list.

One of the habits I wrote was to do 20 pushups every morning. That was the first thing I did every morning once I'd finished my daily list.

After maybe 2 weeks I realised I hadn't missed a day yet. From then on, I didn't need motivation to do those pushups. No excuses could stop me. I had MOMENTUM and now it was easy to maintain.

Another example is learning a skill: Google ads. I would grind most days watching Youtube videos but I would sometimes skip out on it because I didn't have the momentum.

I finally got a few jobs on fiver and was forced to put the skills to the test, so was FORCED to learn what I needed to know to provide the service I'd been paid for. If I did a good job, more would come. So I went all out and started getting a few more jobs, for which I needed to learn more to carry out the tasks. Before I knew it, I had built MOMENTUM and now it became easy to motivate myself to do what I needed to do.

These small wins add up over time. Momentum is key.

Hustlers University 2.0 has also been a goldmine of info. I am currently reading a lot on Affiliate Marketing. Affiliate Marketing is a big money skillset that can earn you $100,000+ every month if you are highly skilled at it. It might take years to get there, but MOMENTUM and small wins added up will take you there if you put in the work.

I made my first affiliate sale this week. Small win. Momentum is building.
